Justify worked a strong seven furlongs Friday morning at Santa Anita, his final workout before shipping to Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby.
Working in company, Justify broke off three to four lengths behind his rival at the five and a half, caught his rival at the finish wire and continued out seven furlongs in 1:25 on Bob Baffert’s watch.
Drayden Van Dyke was up for the 6:30 a.m. workout; Mike Smith will ride Justify in the Kentucky Derby. Justify, three-for-three winner of the Santa Anita Derby his most recent start, is the presumptive Kenntucky Derby favorite.
