Caledonia Road, the 2-year-old filly champion of 2017, and Lady Alexandra each recorded career best Beyer Speed Figures on Sunday at Belmont Park.
Caledonia Road, who was making her first start since winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita in November, tuned up for the Grade 1 Acorn with a 3 1/2-length victory over older fillies and mares in a second-level optional-claiming race at a mile.
She earned an 84 Beyer Speed Figure for her effort, two points better than her prior career top, which came in the Breeders' Cup.
In addition to facing older rivals off a long layoff, Caledonia Road, who is trained by Ralph Nicks, had an ankle chip removed after her 2-year-old campaogn and a minor illness in March. She overcame a deepish, drying-out track Sunday.
Lady Alexandra was an impressive winner of the License Fee Stakes while making her first start for Graham Motion. She pulled away from the field in the stretch of the six-furlong turf race to score by 3 1/2 lengths.
Lady Alexandra earned a 104 Beyer, 18 points higher than any race she ran as a 2-year-old or a 3-year-old.
