Dreaming Diamonds, purchased privately after a promising debut third at Keeneland last month, scored for her new connections - owners Marc Winston and Rob Auerbach and trainer Tom Amoss - in taking the fifth race by open lengths in the first juvenile race of the Churchill spring meet.
In contrast to a number of others in the race, her trip was favorable, with winning jockey Corey Lanerie keeping her glued to the fence, his arms appearing within inches of the skimming the rail. She raced 4 1/2 furlongs on a fast track in 52.83, paying $6.80.
Third-place Toy Moon belongs in the trip-handicappers notebook after having her chances ruined at the break. She bumped with another rival at the start, and then stumbled, seemingly as a result of the contact. Hopelessly out of it, she caught the eye in rallying back into contention.
