Flameaway turned in another routine gallop, going a mile and a half this morning.
Instilled Regard did the same, again looking better to me the second time around, as he did yesterday in his first local gallop. Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer arrived overnight, and was on hand to watch his colt at Churchill for the first time.
"He looks really good and is blossoming a little at this time of year, which is important," Hollendorfer said. "His coat looks good. He's a very sound horse, and he drew a decent post for his style of running. So we'll see what happens on Saturday, but we're doing good, anyway."
Instilled Regard was the 20th and final horse into this year's Derby field on points. The 21st horse on the points list, and currently excluded from the main body of the field as an also-eligible, is Blended Citizen, who looked strong and smooth in his routine gallop. Blended Citizen has until 9 a.m. tomorrow, scratch time for both the Oaks and Derby, to draw into the race. If he does not, the Belmont Stakes in five weeks becomes his major target, with the Preakness or the Peter Pan possibilities for his next start.
