Bolt d'Oro galloped 1 1/2 miles Thursday morning at Churchill Downs during the training session reserved for Derby and Oaks runners. He'll have the same schedule on Friday, but will walk on Derby morning, according to his owner and trainer, Mick Ruis.
"He galloped good, so strong," Ruis said. "He's peaking at the right time."
Ruis said he's "so proud of him" for how far Bolt d'Oro has progressed since earlier this year, when he had a pulled muscle in his hind end.
Ruis said that assuming Bolt d'Oro runs well and exits the Derby in good order, his intention is to run in the Preakness.
