Trainer Kathleen O'Connell on Saturday will begin serving a 14-day suspension, according to the stewards at Tampa Bay Downs. The stewards said the days originated with a ruling from Monmouth Park, which opens on Saturday.

There are four horses in a pair of Tampa stakes Saturday that all show they were previously trained by O'Connell and that all have been transferred to trainer Brain Smeak. 

O'Connell is nearing 2,000 career wins, with 1,977 heading into Friday, according to statistics from Daily Racing Form.
