Lane 5 and firm for the first day of turf racing at the 133-day meet. It's sunny and on the cool side, with a strong east wind. 

The fifth, a $20K NW2 sprint, could belong to front-runner Canadian Club Eh, who has good turf rider Eurico Da Silva aboard.  

Lethal Beauty should be prominent as the favorite in the other grass event, the eighth and final race, a maiden special weight sprint. She's coming off a troubled second in her five-furlong debut on the Tapeta, and the daughter of Smart Strike is bred for the grass.

The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is nearly $25K.
