A $160,473 double carryover in the pick six spices up the second half of the card. Races 1-6 were previewed earlier, below is a preview of the pick six sequence on races 7-12 …
Race 7 – Six of the last nine dirt races at one mile were won by the pacesetter, a profile that benefits debut sprint winner Explorer (6). A $1.25 million 2yo purchase in 2017, the son of Orb is trained by Bob Baffert. If he misfires, take your pick: Ike Walker (1), Clear the Mine (3) or comeback longshot Absolutely Stylish (8) in his first start for Bill Spawr.
Race 8 – Outlaw (7) has worked super for his debut in this turf sprint. His main rival is Camby (5), who drops from one MSW to another MSW. How is that a drop? The horse Camby finished second to in his most recent start Feb. 18 was none other than Justify.
Race 9 – In a perplexing maiden-30 sprint, first-time starters Friendly Steve (1) and Cee’s Wild (7) are as good as any. The favorite is second-start dropper Hayne’s Pal (12).
Race 10 – Not sure about top choice favorite Six Point Rack (4), seventh as the favorite last out in a similar Calbred N1X turf mile. This race is impossible.
Race 11 – American Anthem (4) and Touching Rainbows (6) are solid in this seven-furlong G2. This handicapper prefers Touching Rainbows, will include both. Looking for a 15-1 longshot? Horse Greedy (5) was claimed from a third-place finish last out by John Sadler. The winner was a Sadler trainee that he calls “probably one of the best horses everyone has not heard of yet.” Might want to put Catalina Cruiser on your horses-to-watch list for summer, and include Horse Greedy underneath in the San Carlos exacta.
Race 12 – Last-start runner-up Temple Princess (6) and MSW-to-MCL dropper Chalky (5) are the principals in this maiden-50 turf mile.
First post 12 noon, post time for the opening leg of the pick six, race 7, is listed at 3 p.m.
