Lane 3 for the turf on a course that's getting some much needed rain today. It's currently listed as firm (GS 11.8).
The favored Danish Dynaformer wouldn't mind a little give in the ground in the G3 Singspiel Stakes, which he captured in 2016 but is winless since. He was a closing second in the 10-furlong allowance prep for the race, behind his Roger Attfield-trained stablemate Final Copy. Attfield has won the Singspiel a whopping seven times.
Following a winter layoff, Johnny Bear was fifth in the prep. He should welcome the stretchout to 12 furlongs, the distance over which he upset Hawkbill in last year's G1 Northern Dancer Turf. The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $56K.
