Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, La., will increase overnight purses beginning Saturday, the track announced Tuesday. 

There will be increases of $1,500 or $1,000, depending on the class level of the races.

“We are pleased to announce this purse increase,” David Heitzmann, racing secretary for Louisiana Downs, said in a release. “While our Grade 3, $300,000 Super Derby remains the richest race of the meet, we have a loyal core of horsemen who work hard to fill races throughout the season. We are hopeful that this increase will benefit both our horsemen and horseplayers.”
