Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, on Saturday morning will host a Roses to Ribbons Old Fashioned Horse Fair - an event designed to match racehorses nearing retirement with new owners. The fair that is free and open to the public also features tack, artwork and other vendors and it runs for two hours, starting at 10 a.m. Central.
Owners or trainers with racehorses approaching retirement can bring those individuals to the paddock to parade before potential buyers, some of them professionals from other disciplines. The sale of any horse is private, negotiated between the two parties, according to information released about the event.
Event organizer Tracy Sheffield can be reached at (512) 395-5314. She said she is willing to help coordinate this sort of event for any track, in any state .
