Odds on favorite Camila Princess was awarded the victory in the $100,000 Martha Washington Stakes following the somewhat controversial disqualification of Midnight Soiree, who pulled away during the closing stages of the race after the two leaders had engaged in a bumping duel in late stretch with both horses appearing to be equally responsible for the incident. In addition, Camila Princess repeatedly lunged over the series of tire tracks on the course left by the starting gate, switching leads a couple of time as a result, which may have been a contributing factor to the series of events that ultimately led to the disqualification.
Camila Princess, a 3-year-old daughter of Animal Kingdom, is owned by Grupo 7C Racing Stable and trained by Oscar Gonzalez. She was ridden to victory by Miguel Sanchez.
Midnight Soiree is trained by Lisa Lewis, who would have registered her first victory of the 2018 season had her horse's number stayed up.
