I was very impressed by the effort from FATALE BERE (9) in the Honeymoon at Santa Anita in early April. The tactical speed she displayed on April 7 could be a huge asset in this year’s Belmont Oaks, as it doesn’t look like there’s a tremendous amount of early pace signed on. Fatale Bere’s most recent start should be ignored entirely, as the saddle slipped, and she was essentially eased. I understand west coast turf horses are generally a notch or two below those on the east coast, but I’m hopeful this is an instance where that trend is bucked; at what should be a very square price, I’m excited to play Fatale Bere in a competitive edition of the Belmont Oaks.
