Conquest Sandman went right to the front, as expected, from the rail under jockey Emisael Jaramillo and never looked back, drawing away to an easy victory over Galleon Mast in Sunday's $75,000 Mecke Stakes. The win was the third in the last four starts for the even money favorite, who was haltered for a bargain $16,000 in February by trainer Juan Carlos Abarrio for owner Costa Bruno.
