Arizona Downs, the former Yavapai Downs, opens for simulcasting on Friday for the first time since 2010, according to an announcement. Live racing is scheduled to return to the track in 2019. Gates on Friday open at 9 a.m. Mountain.
“We are ready to go,” Ann McGovern, general manager of Arizona Downs, said in a press release. “Our employees are beyond excited to show off the new Arizona Downs. We look forward to welcoming back racing enthusiasts who have missed having a horse track in the market, as well as introducing our great sport to a new audience.”
Yavapai Downs last raced in 2010. Arizona Downs intends to put on a mixed meet for Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses in 2019, from Memorial Day weeked through Labor Day.
