There were a few tense moments, but jockey Tyler Conner made a vital move to extract Big Impression ($24) from trouble in the stretch to win a maiden claimer.
Big Impression, the second-longest chance in a field of six, was racing on the rail behind two rivals. Conner found room in the nick of time outside of even-money favorite Romolina to guide his mount in the clear, twice looking over his right shoulder before making the move. Big Impression won by three lengths.
Conner's next mount is Chrisiscookin (1) in the seventh race.
