It was a rough first seven days of the summer meeting for trainer Richard Baltas, who tied for the lead at the 2017 summer meeting with Phil D'Amato.
Baltas lost with his first 21 starters. In Friday's secondn race, Lemoona ($10) provided the breakthrough win n an allowance race for fillies and mares at a mile. Few, if anyone, could have expected Baltas to have such a rugged start.
Baltas will be busy through the eveningtime program, with runners in the third through fifth and seventh races.
He runs Miss Boom Boom (9) in the seventh. She is the morning-line favorite at 5-2 to win a $32,000 claimer at 1 1-16 miles on turf.
