Apprentice jockey Assael Espinoza won the second and third races on Thursday and is positioned to sweep the $1 pick three ending in the fourth race with Bedford (1).

Espinoza had two wins at Del Mar on July 22, his first double at this track. Later this afternoon, Espinoza has an excellent chance for a win on Kopitar (12) in the sixth race, and Curryforthree Bang (7) in the eighth race.

Espinoza and fellow apprentice Heriberto Figueroa tied for the jockey's title at the Los Alamitos meeting last month. Through Thursday's third race, Espinoza was tied for third in the standings with seven wins at the meeting.
