Fast on the main track and 'good' on the turf as we try to dodge rain at Saratoga for the Friday card.
The feature is the Grade 2 Hall of Fame for 3yos on turf. Scratch #8 Sand Dancer and #10 Battle at Sea, both longshots on the ML.
This is an excellent race with some quality to it and there is no shortage of early speed.
Ultimately, I sided with Ride a Comet, who is 3 for 3 on turf and improving all the time. He will need his best against this field but he was impressive winning each of his last two starts in races that didn't necessarily set up perfectly for closers.
Chad's Raging Bull has looked good in his first three starts and he was way up against it last time while rated back to last in a race that was slow early and fast late.
Gidu is back from Ascot stretching out with form and figures and he is dangerous based on his overall form. I wouldn't be thrilled to take him as the favorite but he can win.
The other horse I'm using at a price is Have At It. He is all upside right now and exits a solid win in a strongly-run allowance race at Belmont last time.
Race 6 is an interesting turf sprint for NY-bred fillies - assuming it stays on. I can try Beaux Arts based on her recent form sprinting on grass at Monmouth, particularly her most recent one when laying down a fast pace and just failing to hold.
I like Regalian in the last but he's the ML favorite and a wet track doesn't necessarily help him so there is no need to really talk about that race.
With the rain continuing to fall at this point let's see what happens and try to come back later to hit some spots on a card that left something to be desired, outside of the Hall of Fame, if necessary.
