Tap the Wire ($8) remained unbeaten in two starts with a victory in Saturday's Graduation Stakes for California-bred 2-year-olds at Del Mar, and gave trainer Dan Dunham his first stakes win at the popular racetrack.
Dunham had not won a stakes since This Wizard Rocks won the Gateway to Glory Stakes at Fairplex Park in 2004.
Tap the Wire finished 3 1-2 lengths in front of 7-2 Luck's Royal Flush, the winner of the Everett Nevin Stakes at the Oak Tree at Pleasanton meeting on July 7.
Tap the Wire was ridden by Drayden Van Dyke and ran 5 1-2 furlongs in 1:05.48. The colt, by Eddington, is owned by breeders John and Allegra Ernst. Tap the Wire won a maiden race at Santa Anita on May 5.
