Instagrand, a dominant winner of his lone start and the expected favorite on Saturday in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes, worked a half-mile in 50 seconds Tuesday morning at Del Mar in his final tune-up for the race.
Instagrand, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, got a Beyer Speed Figure of 88 when winning his debut at Los Alamitos on June 29.
Entries for the Best Pal will be taken Wednesday.
Also working Tuesday morning were a number top-class runners, including the champion filly Abel Tasman, who went five furlngs in 1:00 for Bob Baffert, and Battle of Midway, the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile winner who is getting closer to a return to action for Hollendorfer following a five-furlong work in 1:01.
Other notable works on Tuesday included Fatale Bere (3 furlongs, 35 seconds), Marley's Freedom (1:00.60), and Dr. Dorr and Mubtaahij (six furlongs, 1:13.60).
