Trainer Jason Servis swept the top two positions in Wednesday's $100,000 Quick Call with wire to wire winner World of Trouble and the late striding Fig Jelly, who ran down Dirty in the final strides to finish second in the 5 1/2 furlong turf fixture for 3-year-olds decided over a yielding course.
World of Trouble broke alertly from the rail under Irad Ortiz Jr., was cleverly rated on the lead and was in full control when engaged by Dirty at the top of the stretch, edging away by a length and three quarter's over his uncoupled mate Fig Jelly who rallied down the center of the course to finish a neck better than Dirty to earn the placing. Dirty had delayed the start of the race briefly after breaking through the gate.
World of Trouble, a son of Kantharos, was making his turf debut in the Quick Call while dropping in class after finishing a tiring fourth as the 5-2 favorite in the Grade 2 Woody Stephens on June 9. Sent postward the 8-5 favorite, World of Trouble completed the distance in 1:04.11 over a course softened by mid-afternoon showers.
