Del Mar: Pedroza is overdue - way overdue

Jockey Martin Pedroza has had a rough first half of the Del Mar meeting, going winless in 39 mounts. The breakthrough may finally occur when Pray for Corday runs in a $20,000 claimer for maidens in Wednesday's fourth race.

Trained by Sal Gonzalez, Pray for Corday (10) will break from the outside in a field of nine. The 3-year-old filly drew the rail in her last start and was pressured for the first half-mile before fading from contention. This outside draw is more favorable. She was competitive from an outside post at Los Alamitos in late June and will have her seventh start on Wednesday.
