Ten races today, highlighted by the $100k Tale of the Cat for older dirt sprinters. The main track is 'fast' and the turf courses are 'good.'
The Tale of the Cat features the return of My Boy Tate. Undefeated since turned back to sprint last summer at Saratoga, My Boy Tate has not been seen since winning back to back stakes vs. NY-breds earlier this year. Both of those stakes wins came over wet tracks but My Boy Tate handles fast going just fine and he has the kind of tactical speed to overcome his inside draw. There is enough working against him to take a shot against at a short price, but I couldn't find anyone else to gravitate to in this race.
Race 7 is a high-priced allowance/optional claimer set for 11 furlongs on turf. Empressof the Nile is a short price on the ML dropping out of stakes company and she is the horse to beat in this race. I'm trying to beat her with Violet Blue, who has improved noticeably in her first two starts this year.
Race 5 is a MSW for 2yo fillies sprinting on turf. There are several well-bred and well-connected runners in this field but I am most interested in Oceans of Love, for Mark Casse. She debuted sprinting on dirt at Churchill and raced greenly after lacking the early speed to keep up in that kind of race, but she is bred to move way up on turf.
