Gunnevera, at 1-9, was a clear winner in his first start since March on Friday at Gulfstream Park. He made his return in an optional $62,500 claiming race at a mile and a sixteenth and won in hand. Edgard Zayas was aboard for trainer Antonio Sano. 

Gunnevera trailed in the early stages, began to pick off rivals after a half-mile in 48.32 seconds, took over past the quarter pole and rolled home by six and a half lengths while covering the distance on a fast track in 1:42.03.
