Angel Alessandra made her turf debut in a maiden race for 2-year-old fillies in Friday's fifth race, and handled the transition to a new surface with ease.

Ridden by Flavien Prat, Angel Alessandra ($8.40) closed from sixth in a field of nine with a half-mile remaining to win by three-quarters of a length over 4-1 Hyde Park Corner, an import from Ireland.

Angel Alessandra races for Rockingham Ranch, David Bernsen and trainer Peter Miller. Angel Alessandra was Miller's third winner from as many runners on Friday.

The filly could return for the $100,000 Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf at a mile on Sept. 3.
