Spring Quality has been withdrawn from the Grade 1 Arlington Million today, an Arlington racing official said Saturday morning.
Winner of the Grade 1 Manhattan in his most recent start, Spring Quality shipped here earlier this week from trainer Graham Motion’s base at Fair Hill in Maryland. Motion posted on Twitter than Spring Quality hadn't travelled well, necessitating the scratch.
“Unfortunately, he couldn’t handle the trip from Fair Hill," Motion told Arlington publicity later Saturday morning. "He hasn’t been eating and drinking like he normally was. I’m just not comfortable with running him. We’re going to continue to give him fluids. He’s bright and alert but he’s just not ready to run."
Motion said he hopes to fly Spring Quality to Saratoga on Sunday if possible. If the gelding comes back to himself quickly he could run in the Sword Dancer on Aug. 25, Motion said.
Divisidero also has been scratched from the Million though his defection was known Wednesday when his connections opted for the Fourstardave today at Saratoga.
