Lane 2 for the turf on a beautiful sunny day. The course has some give in the ground from significant rain earlier in the week, and is labeled good (9.8 GS).
There are three stakes on the 11-race card, beginning with the $100K Duchess in the third. Glorious Song Stakes winner Win the War returns from a long layoff due to injury in the seven-furlong sprint. She will be a skimpy price, in a field reduced to four after the scratches of Miss Savvy and Glamanation, who was cross-entered in Sunday's Wonder Where Stakes.
The $100K Flaming Page, an overnight turf marathon for distaffers, lured a host of shippers, although morning line favorite Lottie is scratched. Creative Thinking is unbeaten in two starts over the 12-furlong distance of the Flaming Page, and Daring Duchess is looking to rebound off a double-digit loss in the G3 Modesty at Arlington.
The $100K Victoriana, a mile and a sixteeth turf route for Ontario-sired females, was on the portion of Monday's card that was cancelled due to inclement weather. It figures to be showdown between Silent Sonet and Niigon's Eclipse, who ran one-two in the July 1 Zadracarta Stakes.
The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is just under $274K heading into the nightcap, a competitive N1X turf sprint that contains no shortage of speed.
