The two-time Grade 1 winner Moonshine Memories was withdrawn from Sunday's Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo Stakes at Del Mar in favor of a start in the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga on Sept. 3.
Trainer Simon Callaghan said in a text message that Moonshine Memories was in "fine" condition. In the buildup to the Rancho Bernardo for fillies and mares, Callaghan suggested he was not fully committed to starting Moonshine Memories in the $100,000 race.
The $250,000 Prioress STakes is run for 3-year-old fillies at six furlongs.
Moonshine Memories has won 4 of 7 starts and earned $518,500. She won two Grade 1 races last year - the Del Mar Debutante at seven furlongs and Chandelier Stakes at 1 1-16 miles - before finishing seventh as the favorite in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies last November.
