Fast & firm with some sun shining on Wednesday at Saratoga.
Race 2 is a MSW for 2yo NY-bred fillies. Elegant Zip is the horse to beat based on her debut earlier in the meet where she finished a good 2nd with a 68 Beyer. She will likely have to run at least as well in this spot while facing Tossup, who was highly-touted leading into her debut in the sloppy Lynbrook. She didn't break well in that start before getting a wide trip and weakening late after making the lead, but it would be no surprise to find her rebounding to a better effort here.
Race 4: Texas Music was no factor vs. a better field up here last time under similar conditions, but she did not get off to a good start in that race. She has found a much better spot this time, especially if she can find her way to the lead from her inside draw. She has a turf race last year at Keeneland that would give her a chance in this field.
The feature is the $100k Bolton Landing, for 2yo fillies sprinting on turf. Scratch #2 Shang Shang Shang and #7 Questionoftheday. Elsa debuted out of town and won impressively after a good trip tracking the leaders. She has a nice pedigree for top connections and I like her in this race, even with the presence of the Wesley Ward pair of Chelsea Cloisters and Stillwater Cove returning from Europe.
