Takeo Squared ($6.40) closed from the middle of a five-horse field to win a maiden race for Cal-bred milers on turf by 2 3-4 lengths over 5-1 Nice Haircut, giving trainer Doug O'Neill a sweep of the exacta.

This was the fourth start for Takeo Squared, who races for a sizable partnership that includes EC Racing and MyRaceHorse. Takeo Squared was third, second and sixth in main track sprints for Cal-breds at Santa Anita in th spring and here on July 20.

Takeo Squared is by Square Eddie, who had had eight 2-year-old winners this year.
