The $2 pick six begins in Friday's third race with a tiny carryover of $8,280 in the single ticket jackpot pool.

This will be an interesting weekend for the pick six. There is a mandatory payoff in the pick six on Saturday in conjunction with the Pacific Classic day program. The mandatory payoff was announced before the meeting began for two days - Saturday and the closing day on Sept. 3.

Track officials hoped that a hefty single ticket jackpot carryover on Saturday would result in a bumper pick six pool, but the carryover - if there is one - will be modest. 

Will bettors respond anyway, knowing there is a mandatory payoff?
