Until the first half of Friday's program, the first half of the Del Mar summer meeting had been a tough run for jockey Joe Talamo, with four wins from 70 mounts.

Things are looking up. Talamo won two of the first four races on Friday and is approaching the top 10 in the standings. He has three more mounts this evening - Nevermissesabeat (1) in the fifth race, Twirling Apples in the sixth and Pee Wee Reese (7) in the seventh.

Pee Wee Reese is Talamo's best chance. He was a stakes winner at Santa Anita earlier this year, and is well-suited to the seventh race - the $75,000 Green Flash Handicap at five furlongs on turf.
