Jockey Tyler Gaffalione, the champion apprentice jockey of 2015, won for the first time at Del Mar in Saturday's 11th race on Morse Code ($14) in an optional claimer on turf.

Gaffalione, 23, is riding here this weekend and rides at Gulfstream Park on a regular basis. Morse Code was Gaffalione's 12th mount at Del Mar. He rode two mounts here last November and had his 10th mount of the weekend on Morse Code.

He is booked to rde at Del Mar on Sunday, including Fly to Mars in the Grade 2 Del Mar Mile.

Gaffalione won the final leg of a $2 pick six that paid $10,917.
