A cloudy/muggy day for the 11-race card. Following overnight rain, the Tapeta was on the slow side for morning works, and the turf is listed as yielding (lane 3).
The G3 Seaway Stakes is wide open, but can probably be parred down to Moonlit Promise, Just Be Kind, Let It Ride Mom, Malibu Bonnie and shipper Princess Gibraltar.
Juveniles will prep for next month's G1 Summer Stakes in the first running of the $100K Soaring Free Stakes, a six-furlong turf sprint. Saratoga-based Fluminense is bred for the lawn, and could be favored with Luis Contreras riding for trainer Steve Asmussen, a once-potent combo in these parts. Tricky Magician just missed last time in a tough maiden special on the grass, which Muskoka Wonder is trying for the first time off a victory in the Clarendon Stakes. Both are trained by Mark Casse.
The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $433K.
