A graded win is no longer missing from the resume of multiple stakes winner Golden Mischief. Saturday at Keeneland, she darted inside rivals in the stretch to notch the first such victory of her career with a hard-fought head score over Chalon in the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America at Keeneland.
She had to survive a claim of foul to earn her graded win, coming after Ricardo Santana Jr. on third-place Vertical Oak alleged interference in deep stretch. The objection was not allowed.
Vertical Oak was steadied in the late going when Golden Mischief drifted out, though it did not appear to cost her a placing. She finished a length behind the top pair.
Golden Mischief completed six furlongs on a fast track in 1:09.39, paying $11.
The Thoroughbred Club of America serves as a Win and You're In Challenge race for the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint Nov. 3 at Churchill Downs.
