Leading every step of the 1 1/16-mile journey, KNICKS GO, ridden by Albin Jimenez, just pulled a 70-1 shocker in the G1, $500,000 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity. Ben Colebrook trains the gray Paynter colt for the KRA Stud Farm of Jin Woo Lee. SIGNALMAN was 2nd, STANDARD DEVIATION was 3rd, and the 5-2 favorite, DREAM MAKER, barely got out of a gallop following an awkward start when finishing last.
The full order was 7-1-14-2. A field of 13 2yos went postward, with MIND CONTROL, the lukewarm M/L favorite, being an early scratch due to a mild temperature.
KNICKS GO, most recently 3rd in the Arlington-Washington Futurity, was getting Lasix for the first time and finished the 1 1/16-mile distance in 1:44.23 over a fast track. He earned the Win and You're In berth at stake for the Nov. 2 Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs.
Nicole Russo will have the full recap of the Breeders' Futurity up before long on www.drf.com.
