Royal Marine just won the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp, Oisin Murphy riding for Godolphin and trainer Saeed bin Suroor. Royal Marine outfinished pace-setting Broome as the touted Anodor, though he was makinga bit of ground late, could only finish third.

That was the second race on this Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe card, which began with a surprise as longshot Lily's Candle captured the G1 Prix Marcel-Boussac. 

Both races were contested over one mile and are part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge Series, offering automatic fees-paid berths plus travel expenses to Louisville, Kentucky, for the BC Juvenile Turf (Lagardere) and BC Juvenile Fillies Turf (Boussac).
