Trainer Rolando Almanza swept the three stakes on the Dash For Cash Futurity program for Quarter Horses Saturday night at Lone Star Park.
He won the Grade 2, $405,585 main event with Paint Me a Sinner ($27), who proved a half-length best over 3-5 favorite Mpshinning. Paint Me a Sinner covered the 400 yards of the Dash For Cash Futurity in 19.62 seconds, on a muddy, sealed track.
“We knew she’d break out front, but weren’t sure she could hold them off,” Almanza told track publicity. “She’s such a little filly, but she’s got a big heart. She doesn’t know how big she is.”
Ricardo Garza-Cruz was aboard for owner Claudia Avila.
Almanza also won the Grade 3, $163,400 Dash For Cash Derby with Eos a Political Win ($12.20) and the $45,065 Dash For Cash Juvenile with Zoomin Patriot ($6).
"I had the fastest qualifier last year in the futurity, but couldn’t run in the final because the horse couldn’t come back," Almanza told publicity. "I’ve been wanting to win this race for a while and to win all three, the juvenile, derby and futurity is a dream come true."
Jose Alvarez rode Eos a Political Win - who covered 440 yards in the mud in 21.39 seconds - for Elite Oilfileld Services.
Ricky Ramirez was aboard Zoomin Patriot, who like Paint Me a Sinner races for Avila.
