Sunday Woodbine recap

The favored Avie's Flatter gave jockey Eurico Da Silva a sweep of the two weekend stakes for 2yos when he captured the $225K Cup and Saucer aboard the powerhouse Avie's Flatter.

Avie's Flatter stamped himself as arguably the best juvenile on the grounds when romping by five lengths over the promising filly Bold Script. He figures to run back in the Coronation Futurity, and Bold Script could face her own sex in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes. Kitten's Girl, the 2-1, second choice, was a somewhat disappointing fourth, while just missing some black type, after a wide trip in mile and a sixteenth turf route.

Trainer Gail Cox and jockey Rafael Hernandez combined to double up with Magic Spell and Ladies Night.

Leading trainer Norm McKnight sent out two chalky winners, including the suddenly game Money Talker.

Captain Handsome was a good-looking debut winner, during a rail-skimming off-the-pace trip under Sheena Ryan. The 2yo son of leading Ontario sire Silent Name is a half-brother to stakes winner Circle of Friends, and both are trained by Robert Tiller.

Racing resumes with an eight-race card on Thanksgiving Day Monday, when the Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $47K.
