Laurens, who landed her fourth Group 1 of the year Saturday in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket, is on track to race Oct. 20 at Ascot in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, trainer Karl Burke said Tuesday. Burke said he would further assess Laurens at the end of this week, and that if it seemed like she needed more time she could pass the QE II, but as of today the star 3-year-old filly appeared to have come out of her race last weekend in good shape.
Even if she runs in the QE II, Laurens still could come to Louisville for a Breeders' Cup race, Burke said. Laurens as a BC Challenge series win in the Matron Stakes, giving her automatic fees-paid entry into the Filly and Mare Turf, but also could be considered for the Mile if she starts again after Ascot.
