Kershaw, the 3-year-old gelding named for LA Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, drew away to win a starter allowance at a mile by 6 1-4 lengths over 10-1 It's Tiz Time in Saturday's third race. Kershaw ($5.40) won for the second time in seven career starts.

Clayton Kershaw could have a relief appearance in tonight's National League Championship Series against the Mileaukee Brewers. Kershaw, the gelding, and Kershaw, the pitcher, have never performed on the same day. Six of the gelding's races have come during baseball season, including the playoffs.
