Four Breeders' Cup turf workers over boggy course on Friday

Despite steady rainfall throughout the morning, four 2-year-olds prepping for grass races on next Friday's Breeders' Cup program were granted permission to work around the dogs over the turf course officially labeled "yielding" to close  out Friday's  training session at Churchill Downs.

The Wesley Ward trained pair of Chelsea Cloisters and Shang Shang Shang were first up, the former easily best of the set breaking 1 1/2 lengths behind her mate and finishing two clear after 4 furlongs in 26.77 50.63 with not much on the gallop out. Both fillies were pre-entered for the Juvenile Turf Sprint.

A couple of New Yorkers who shipped to town early were next up.  Trainer Jeremiah Englehart sent out Forty Under, among the prospective starters for the Juvenile Turf, to go a solid lookoing half over the boggy going in 28.41, 52.01, reaching out nicely to the wire and galloping out with excellent energy into(5/8's 1:05.22) and around the turn.  He was following seconds later by Todd Pletcher's Juvenile Fillies Turf contender Pakheet, a half in 27.27, 51.32 going easily throughout, up 1:05.60.
