Jockey Diego Saenz hit a milestone of 2,000 Thoroughbred wins in North America on Thursday night, when he guided Lovely Charlie ($6.60) to victory in the eighth race at Delta Downs.
Saenz and Lovely Charlie withstood a claim of foul concerning the stretch run. The pair won by a length and three-quarters in the optional $30,000 claiming sprint for fillies and mares. Lovely Charlie was the third winner on the card for Saenz. He was aboard Lovely Charlie for Elite Thoroughbred Racing and trainer Lee Thomas.

Saenz won his first graded stakes last month in the Grade 3, $300,000 Super Derby, aboard Limation. It was one of four stakes wins he had on Super Derby Day at Louisiana Downs.
