Luis Saez enters today's Thursday card at Aqueduct one win shy of 2,000. 

The 26-year-old rider has long been among the top jockeys in Florida and New York, his principal bases, since he began riding in the U.S. in 2009. He has topped the standings during each of the past two winter championship meets at Gulfstream Park, setting a record in 2017-2018 by winning 133 races there.

Saez ranks seventh in North America by purse earnings this year, with his mounts having made over $15.3 million. He is ninth by wins.
