Wednesday night wrap

Sailor's Thought tracked a sleepy pace along the inside to barely prevail in the feature over the favored Bear Paw, who took the overland route from last in the nine-furlong route. Rafael Hernandez rode Sailor's Thought for Chiefswood Stable and trainer Don MacRae.

The favored Black Bess benefited from a tardy start by another front-runner, Ishiyaya, to seize command early in an Ontario-sired allowance sprint for 2yo fillies. After holding a two-length lead most of the way, she got tired late, but held on to win by a head over Royal Wedding.

Luis Contreras won on Black Bess and Stormbeam.

Eurico Da Silva's double left him six wins shy of the meet record of 221, set by Mickey Walls in 1991.

The official Gmax time of :58.12 for the five furlongs in the seventh was significantly faster than the Trakus time of :58.78.

Racing resumes Friday, when the Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $13K.
