Although the runner ups in Gulfstream's first two races over a sloppy track both made wide runs from off the pace, the first two winners both won in front-running fashion.
That was no big deal in the opener as Olympic Runner was heavily favored. However, Minute Madness's win in the second race at 9-1, actually coming again after being briefly displaced into the stretch, should have the attention of track bias-minded folks.
I'm not proclaiming an inside speed bias on today's wet main track at Gulfstream. Not yet, anyway. But the result of the second race and how it was won means attention should be paid to how the next few races are run, and won.
Of course, a wire job by World of Trouble in the upcoming, off-the-turf GP Turf Sprint won't prove anything as that is widely expected. He's currently 1-9. But what happens behind World of Trouble could provide useful information, and a more evenly matched race 4 will certainly be helpful in determing if a bias is indeed in play.
