Stakes action is under way on Pegasus World Cup Day here at Gulfstream, with WORLD OF TROUBLE winning the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint by 2 3/4 lengths in the first of nine stakes.
Ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., World of Trouble was challenged from the start by RECRUITING READY in the Turf Sprint, which actually was run over a sloppy main track, but the 1-5 favorite was just too much horse, finishing in 56.44 seconds for five furlongs. The full order was 4-8-7-1.
Clearly this race became less attractive when STORMY LIBERAL was scratched because trainer Peter Miller did not want to run the two-time winner of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint over the slop.
Mike Welsch will have the full recap before long on www.drf.com.
