Forestation ($43.60) won his second consecutive start with a surprise victory in an allowance race with a $50,000 claiming option for California-bred 3-year-olds in Friday's fifth race.
Ridden by apprentice jockey Assael Espinonza, Jr., for his second win of the day, Forestation was on the inside for the final half-mile and found space in early stretch before taking the lead. The longest shot in a field of five, Forestation won by 2 1-4 lengths over 2-1 Our Silver Oak, who was second and third in two stakes in September and December.
Lieutenant Dan, the 3-5 favorite, was third on the turn, but faded to finish last.
Forestation, trained by Eric Kruljac, won a $30,000 claimer for maidens at a mile on Jan. 13.
