After brief rain on Saturday morning, the turf course is rated as good for the afternoon program.
The first race, an allowance race with a $20,000 claiming option for California-bred fillies and mares at a mile on turf, was won by Sapphire Kid ($13.80) in 1:38.04.
The horse to follow out of the field is Halo Darlin, who was ridden by Tiago Pereira. Halo Darlin was inside in early stretch and did not have sufficient room to mount any sort of rally, eventually finishing sixth.
Halo Darlin, 6, was claimed for $20,000 by Mike Pender.
